About the Model
A veritable sports fanatic, Karmen Pedaru traded one passion for another once she was discovered in her native Estonia to begin a career in modeling. Born in Kehra, Estonia, Karmen Pedaru took after her family in the sports world. Her grandfather was a professional basketball player, and she picked up the dribbling habit when she was 6 years old. On top of that, she also practiced soccer, handball, and took dance for four years.
But though sports would remain her passion, Karmen found an additional calling of which would change the course of her life: In 2005 Karmen when one would least expect it, Karmen Pedaru was discovered at a drama theater in Tallinn. From this starting point, the birth of her fashion modeling career would start with by signing with Next Model Management. What a way wonderful way to start. A year later Karmen’s debut on the runway would start in 2006 in London, and two years later in 2008, Karmen made her first appearance in New York City the “HUB” of the fashion industry at the February 2008 fashion week shows.
She’s walked the cat walk for the likes of Phi, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Gucci, Valentino, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Marni, while posing for glossies like Muse, Vogue Italia, V Magazine, British Vogue, Numéro, Harper’s Bazaar, as well as the Vogue Paris calendar. Karmen even had the distinct honor of being chosen as the first face of Derek Lam’s campaigns.
And gossip has it once Karmen feels she’s posted her time in modeling, she’ll plan to be ready for her next possible career move. Anything can happen in anyone’s future. Karmen thinking to stay in the fashion industry, with possibly taking on a slightly different role: as a makeup artist. Presently Karmen Padaru is a known fashion model enjoying life and the rewards of modeling and traveling, residing in New York City, the hub of the industry.
The 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was a night Karmen Pedaru as most girls who participated will never forget.
And in 2012 working the HUGE Chanel f/w 12 show, with 67 models walking the cat walk was another memory for the books. Karmen is doing fine.
