About the Model
Karlie Kloss is an American model and ballet dancer. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, and her family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1992. She began studying at Caston’s Ballet Academie in 2002 before being invited to dance with the main company, the Caston Chamber Ballet, in June 2007. Karlie was discovered at a charity fashion show in St. Louis. In 2007, she signed with Elite Model Management before boldly moving to NEXT Model Management in January 2008.
She has been in advertisements for Nina Ricci, Gap, Pringle of Scotland, and American Eagle. Kloss has walked for numerous designers, including Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Givenchy, Gucci, Valentino and Versace, and appeared in editorials for the Italian and British Vogue magazines.
Her covers include American Teen Vogue alongside Chanel Iman and Ali Michael. She was the face of “See” by Chloe, but was later replaced by Taryn Davidson. At the Jill Stuart Fall 2008 show, model-turned-TV host Tyra Banks was seen mockingly imitating Kloss’ swaying motion and “stoned death stare.”
