Crop tops are back on the scene this Spring 2014. They will fill every store shelf and online venue this coming season. Designers such as Thakoon, BCBG, Rebecca Minkoff, Milly, Rag & Bone, Peter Som, Derek Lam, Richard Chai, Alice & Olivia and Lela Rose have embraced the trend.

Designer Michelle Smith of Milly said she was inspired by “traditional notions of femininity.” The runway was doused with female curves swaying down it. Sheer fabric showing off just the right amount of skin, high waisted pop colored under garments with waistlines and details in just the right places.

Pencil skirts paired with cropped tops in jewel toned colors and cropped jackets brought an electric feel. Milly had just enough color balanced out by black and whites to bring the whole collection nicely together as a whole.

A plethora of colors and styles of crop top shirts, tanks, and jackets were seen on the runway as well as in the streets during fashion week in the states and across the pond. Diane Von Furstenberg brought refuge and relief to the fashion closets of every fashionista. It was a splendid collection titled Oasis; that begged one to take a trip to a beautiful region and stand before the sunset in one of her magnificate pieces.

Furstenberg said “What I ‘am hoping is that people feel joie de vivre, happiness, and beauty in a world that is so rough, so unpredictable, and scary.” Her collection offered up safari mini dresses, halter jumpsuits, tunics with wide legs pants, chiffon dresses and crop tops with snake print that added a touch of the jungle to a world of paradise.

Ladies, with this trend we must get are abdomens in tip top shape. Time to start the crunches this fall! You can go extreme or mild with the mid riff you would like to show with this trend. This all depends on your age and personal style. Have fun and be playful with this trend. Follow your instincts my fashionable ones.
