Back to ‘Bassike’ – the designer duo at VAMFF

Comfy but luxurious, easy to care but fabulous – This is what the label’s movement looks. Bassike (which pronounces like ‘Basic’) was founded by the designer duo Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan 12 years ago. The high-end designs which are fabricated continuously in Australia distinguish the sustainability of the label not merely.

While Bassike stands for sustainable manufacturing with a producing area in Australia Sams & Ryan are also supporters of the ‘mirable foundation’. The non-profit charity provides vital support to children in Australia who are orphaned and now in the care of extended family or kinship care.

As if it was not enough (well, who defines that?!) they buy yarns overseas from organic cotton farms, get the thread knitted in Australia and get them cut and sewn in local factories – good girls!

Not even these sustainable effort honors an exemplary niche – the wearable, breathable but superfine and remarkable organic cotton, soft knits, in-house denim and Scandinavian simplicity show how pretty well the duo knows about fabrication and production.

Clean lines, relaxed shapes, minimal details like cut-outs and asymmetric hems, natural but easy-to-care fabrics with an oversized, masculine hip spirit and an easygoing store concept implement quality and functionality.

Get yourself up, be easy, feel amazing with Bassike and get convinced at the VAMFF 2018 on March 6 at 7.30pm! By the way (!!): Don’t miss the current news about the runway show! Go and register on My212 and stay in touch!
