High Standards

The first thing I think of when I see thigh high boots is the movie Pretty Woman. When I was a young girl I loved those boots worn in the movie by Julia Roberts character. For months I drove my mother mad. Every shoe store we went into I had to locate and try on every pair of thigh high boots.

Then with happiness about the tall leather boots and sadness that my little girl thighs were to small for them to fit properly, I left the store dreaming of the day I would grow up and they would fit. Those days have finally arrived and so have the standards of thigh high boots.

Chanel clicked down the runway with black edgy dresses and thigh high boots with chains, shine and tweed. Designer Karl Lagerfeld has always known how to make the spotlight shine down upon him. He has a dramatic flare that attracts one to the flames and he has stayed at the top of the fashion food chain for many years with his eccentric ways.

I love this edgy mysterious women that he created this season. Textures, hardware, shine, thigh high boots and mystery carried me away to fashion awe. He seduces the fashion world with every design he unleashes on the world. And for this collection he set loose black & white tweed dresses, skirts, over sized coats, and my fave thigh high boots with hardware. With dark colors and striking models he displays the strength  and power a well dressed beautiful woman can obtain.

Emilio Pucci pulled inspiration from the rock and rock female singers of the 60’s and 70′s. Designer Peter Dundaas put it into rock terms for the fashion world “I make clothes that women want to put on and men want to take off.” Beaded tops with swirl skirts and leather rust colored thigh high boots brought that classic rock feel back to life.

Long locks with bangs, loose blouses paired with shorts and thigh high boots that showed the models long legs took the stage. Other looks that were presented consisted of belted tunics, oversized fuzzy coats, fringe dresses, shift dresses, and lovely prints/colors such as mint, lavender, and peach.

Other designers that brought back the thigh high boot this season include Celine, Tibi, Fendi, Gucci, Aquilano Rimondi and BCBG Max Azria. I for one will be slipping into this trend not only because my legs will fit in them now but because I adore boots. They can be worn with dresses, skirts, shorts and skinny jeans so the possibilities are unlimited. Lets shoot for the highest standards and march to the beat of our own hearts.
