Why ‘Dear Dior’? Partly because Christian Dior had the habit of asking his models to wear rhinestone necklaces and pearl bracelets at his fashion shows. This new collection by Victoire de Castellane returns to this concept of costume jewellery in a series of fine jewellery pieces in which colour and size are exuberant, almost excessive, a combination of diamonds, opals and sapphires. But it’s not all bold and brash: and the back of each piece is a reproduction of the lace used in couture dresses by Christian Dior between 1947 and 1957.
Introducing the new luxurious fine jewelry collection “Dear Dior” inspired by the couture archives of Christian Dior, designed by Victoire de Castellane. The affectionate “Dear Dior” collection is comprised of rings, earrings and bracelets, elegantly hand crafted by some of most extraordinary ateliers in France. The collection begins with the idea of couture embroideries and lacework from Christian Dior’s dress archives. Victoire de Castellane incorporated Dior’s couture embroidery and lacework within jewelry collection’s the gold lace design.
Brilliant pure 18k gold “Dear Dior” lacework set with glamorous precious stones, including some of the finest around the world – opals, rubies, spinels, saphires, emeralds, Paraiba tourmalines, spessarites, demantoids, tsvarorites garnets, diamonds and sphenes. Obviously, all of Castellane’s favorites – expressing her adoration for Christian Dior as the early designer.
“I adore the opal because there are several colours in it. The fire in the opal are different every time, they have different patterns and for me they are extraordinary stones because they are magical” says Castellane in the “Dear Dior” video below.
